పాడిందె పాటరా..

Seema-Andhra leaders are saying that there was never a discussion happened about Telangana statehood, the decision of Telangana formation was taken in hurry and they were never aware that such a decision will ever be taken.

 

The discussion has taken place at all levels, many times, in media, in public, in and outside the political parties’ internal meetings, through out the Telugu speaking regions, through out the country right from 1948 to till date.

 

It is really funny to note that they have already said the same words when Telangana statehood was announced by Central government in 2009 and they are pretending the same innocence once again now and we all have seen that from 2009 to till date, not even a single day has passed without discussion on Telangana. Print media has spent thousands of pages and Electronic media has spent thousands of hours in this discussion.

 

Here are some of the major milestones where the discussions took place at length.

 

1948-50: Operation Polo, Hyderabad state liberty from Nizam's rule, Military rule by Gen. Chowdary, Employees import heavily from Seema-Andhra saying Telangana people do not know Telugu and English. Telangana employees were replaced by Seema-Andhra imported employees.

1950-52: Gen Melody headed the civilian government in Hyderabad state and further increased employees import to Telangana from Seema-Andhra, many protests happened against it.

1953-56: first SRC lead by Justice Fatal Ali, Reported the opinions of all the regions, aspirations for Telangana statehood and apprehensions of Telangana people if the region is merged with Seema-Andhra.

1956: Conditional merger of Telangana with Andhra state against first SRC's recommendations of keeping Telangana separate.

1969-71: Jai Telangana moment.

1971: Telangana Praja Samithi's huge victory in parliament elections despite Indira Gandhi's wave all over the country.

1972-73: Supreme Court’s judgment in support of Mulki rules, Jai Andhra moment in Seema-Andhra against Mulki rules, Introduction of Presidential orders and 6-point formula.

1996-2001: Start of Mali dasha Telangana udyamam by Telangana intellectuals and many meetings were organized in Telangana, Andhra and also outside India. All those occasions were reported in media and Chandra Babu Naidu, the then CM warned publicly that he would suppress any kind of separatist moments in the state.

1999: Representation for Telangana statehood by all Telangana Congress MLA's to Sonia under the leadership of Y.S.Rajashekar Reddy , the then PCC president of AP. CWC accepted the demand and recommended NDA government to consider forming 2nd SRC to resolve all such demands.

2001: Formation of TRS by Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao after he resigned from TDP and Dy.Speaker post in a big public meeting.

2003: YSR as PCC president announced that Congress has no objection for Telangana statehood.

2004: Congress formed alliance with TRS in general elections, Sonia said in Election campaigns that she knows and work on the aspirations of people of Telangana for statehood if Congress comes to Power, Added the Telangana statehood in the Common minimum program of UPA government, Added in President’s address and Formed Pranab Mukharjee committee to collect the opinions of all the political parties representing in Parliament and majority of them gave letters in support of Telangana.

2005: TRS ministers in Centre and state governments resigned and withdrew support to Congress governments in protest of the delay in forming the Telangana. KCR and others were holding important cabinet posts in both the governments.

2008: TDP resolution towards formation of Telangana state after lengthy discussions in the party at all levels in all the regions and a letter was given to Pranab committee demanding Telangana statehood.

2009: YSR said in assembly that Congress as a principle agrees formation of Telangana state and Roshaiah committee will be formed to address the concerns of the stakeholders. TDP alliance with TRS in general elections included Telangana statehood in their election manifesto.

2009: Announcement by Chidambaram and Pranab Mucharjee in Parliament that process of Telangana state formation will begin. All the parties except CPM agrees and given letters to home minister of India in one or other way for Telangana statehood and blamed Congress for not taking a decision.

2013: Resolution by UPA allies and resolution in CWC by Congress and requested Central Government to form the state of Telangana.
